The CNA provides basic nursing and clerical support to nursing staff and serves as an ancillary team member in providing patient care and service to patients. This position provides daily departmental operational support and serves as clerical back-up as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists nurses with patient intake, pre-op, and post-op care which includes performing various activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.
  • Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight.
  • Observes patients and immediately reports abnormalities to Registered Nurse (RN) team member.
  • Stocks departmental supplies.
  • Assists with patient flow, transfers, and toileting needs.
  • Transports patients safely using appropriate techniques.
  • Provides a friendly, safe, timely, and quality-driven environment responsive to the needs of patients.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, respect, and accepts responsibility for personal actions, reactions and practices open, constructive, positive communication.
  • Demonstrates accountability and responsiveness to the needs of the patient and staff.
  • Fosters an environment of mutual respect with special concern for confidentiality and the privacy of others.
  • Serves as back-up receptionist/clerical support; answers phones and take messages or transfers calls as necessary; directs visitors and answers visitor/family questions.
  • Organizes daily work into order of priority.
  • Makes copies of necessary paperwork.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of department and physician locations throughout the clinic.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • One year acute or nursing home experience, preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Certified Nursing Assistant certificate, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Travel Requirements

Position requires acceptable motor vehicle driving history, valid and free from restrictions, and must have a valid driver’s license and appropriate vehicle insurance coverage. Ability to travel between all OCR locations.

  • The work environment is a typical medical office environment. The employee must be able to complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions, including staff, patients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls up to 12 hours per day. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear up to 12 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to 12 hours a day.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and should do so in a sound and safe manner. The employee will occasionally assist patients in turning (170 lb average); will occasionally assist patient in arising from exam table; will occasionally push wheelchair patients; and occasionally assists patients in arising from and returning to wheelchair or bed.

Salary Description
$17.00 - $23.00/hour, commensurate with experience
