The Chicago Sun-Times is the hardest-working paper in America, covering the stories and issues that matter most to Chicagoans with depth, integrity, and grit. In January 2022, the Sun-Times merged with public radio station WBEZ with a shared mission to strengthen local journalism in Chicago. Under the banner of Chicago Public Media, Chicago Sun-Times Media, Inc. (CSTM) is now part of one of the largest nonprofit news organizations in the nation. This merger reinforces our commitment to serving Chicagoans with the news that matters most -– fact-based, unbiased journalism deeply connected to Chicago communities.

The Chicago Sun-Times offers a paid, full-time summer reporting 10-week internship to a college junior, senior, or recent college graduate who is a person of color.

Additionally, the Sun-Times offers a small number of paid and unpaid newsroom internships over the summer and part-time for the spring and fall semesters in the following departments: metro, visual, audience/social media, and sports.

• Applicants must be college juniors, seniors, or graduate students within six months of graduation.
• Applicants must provide a letter for unpaid internship positions showing they are working for college credit.
• Applicants must have had at least one internship at a professional daily newspaper or show equivalent experience working as a freelance journalist, as little training is provided.
