The successful candidate will demonstrate skill and devotion toward the development and cultivation of trusted, long-term relationships; serve as a professional ambassador for The Association and Texas A&M University; and exhibit an elevated level of organizational detail to ensure the effective and efficient administration of our human resources programs and initiatives. The Director of Human Resources will have the self-motivation and persistence to effectively contribute as an individual, while also collaborating with the executive management team and fellow directors to achieve our overall vision, mission, and goals.

DUTIES
Essential Functions:
- Champions and exemplifies our culture of professional team service.
- Counsels and assists executives and supervisors in carrying out their personnel responsibilities.
- Works in partnership with leadership and hiring managers to improve recruitment strategies, hiring practices, professional development, and talent management.
- Works with the Vice President of Communications and the Director of Communications to ensure timeliness, clarity, and consistency of internal communications.
- Oversees planning for quarterly All-Team Meetings and other team-building events and activities that promote our culture.
- Assists with preparation of materials for quarterly Board meetings and Leadership Council meetings.
- Coordinates annual performance appraisals and other performance feedback programs.
- Assembles, supervises, and develops the Human Resources Department staff.
- Works collaboratively with executive staff to develop and monitor compensation budgets.
- Administers employee onboarding, training, and professional development programs.
- Manages time and attendance records, processes payroll, and performs accounting-related tasks.
- Develops and maintains a human resources information system that meets the organization's business needs.
- Conducts salary and benefits surveys and collects compensation data for executive and board review.
- Administers all aspects of employee benefit programs, including researching plans and cultivating vendor relationships.
- Coordinates workers' compensation claims.
- Recommends improvements to personnel procedures and practices.
- Ensures compliance with all current applicable employment laws.
- Maintains confidentiality of all human resources matters.
- Develops relationships with peers from Texas A&M, other fundraising affiliates, and the local community.
Participates and provides input on various Association-wide activities:
- Actively contributes toward efforts to achieve our culture, engagement, and fundraising goals.
- Provides on-site event support for Board and Leadership Council meetings.
- Participates on internal event teams and task committees.
- Participates in Association events, including but not limited to Aggie Muster, Aggie Ring Day, Reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala, Pass It Back Day, All-Aggie Grad Party, and All-Aggie Hullabaloo, as needed.
Serves as an ambassador for The Association:
- Meets our Team Expectations.
- Supports The Association’s marketing, communications, and branding and initiatives.
- Fosters relationships with students, former students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of Texas A&M.
- Attends external events in support of the Vice President of Communications or on behalf of The Association, as directed.

Ability to use standard office equipment and software.
Preferred: Extensive familiarity with Texas A&M and its history, traditions, and values. Extensive relationships with local HR professionals. Prior experience with Paylocity, Wrike, Chrome River and/or Salesforce software applications.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Strong commitment to the mission and vision of The Association of Former Students, with the ability and desire to serve as an advocate for the organization and Texas A&M University. High energy level and intrinsic motivation. Occasional travel, including overnight stays, weekends, and evenings, in support of Association events.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Five years of professional experience with emphasis in human resources.
Preferred: Seven years of professional experience with emphasis in human resources. Two years of supervisory experience in human resources at a nonprofit organization. Involvement in campus activities as a student at Texas A&M.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor’s degree. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or equivalent certification.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related field from Texas A&M University.
