Description

  Camp For All transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs. As part of increasing the impact of the unique barrier-free camp for children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs, Camp For All seeks a creative, strategic Communications Manager to manage the organization’s internal/external communications. 


This position offices in the Houston Kirby/Shepherd/Greenbriar location and reports to the President and CEO, while collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders.  The Communications Manager is expected to help create and maintain a professional environment and brand, where the Camp For All mission is carried forward. The Communications Manager is a member of the administrative team who works together throughout each year to take Camp For All to the next level for those we serve and all of the employees. The Communications Manager is vital to the success of the organization as this role is responsible for shaping, executing and maintaining both the internal and external brand of Camp For All.

Camp For All collaborates with more than 65 nonprofit organizations to enable nearly 9,000 campers and their families to discover life each year.


Compensation

Pay range for this exempt, full time salary position starts at $50,000. Although the typical work week for this position is 40 hours Monday through Friday, some nights and weekends will be required due to the nature of the position. Travel between the Houston office and the Camp location are also considered an essential part of the Communications Manager job, with all mileage reimbursed in a timely manner upon submission of an expense report.  This position requires onsite attendance, but has the option for working remotely one day a week.

Requirements

  

Education/Experience 

· Bachelor’s or advanced degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university 

· Minimum of five years’ experience in communications, community outreach, marketing, public relations and/or journalism

· Minimum of three years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or communications


List of Essential Duties


· Develops yearly and long-term strategies while serving as the primary manager and resource for all interdepartmental and external communications 

· Works with all directors, managers and team members to achieve communication goals

· Facilitates the Marketing & PR Committee of the Board of Directors 

· Manages communication outreach to Partner nonprofits in support of shared goals

· Maintains and updates the Camp For All Brand and Style guide and ensures that all materials are aligned with the Camp For All brand identity

· Develops and manages production of marketing and program materials, including invitations, e-letters, newsletters, annual reports, direct mail pieces, videos, program collateral and fundraising materials 

· Manages projects with contract agency and graphic designer 

· Provides primary oversight of the website and maintains the website in collaboration with other key team members

· Develops and maintains media relationships, coordinates media opportunities and creates and distributes press releases and marketing campaigns in collaboration with contract public relations firm

· Analyze and track earned media impressions, social media reach and engagement, web traffic and SEO performance that is distributed in monthly and quarterly reports to the Board of Directors and Camp For All executive team

· Responsible for social media and assists in devising strategy for multiple platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and others.

· Sets up and manages interviews with team members, including the collection of camper stories

· Works with administrative team in coordination with other departments 

· Attends fundraising events, auxiliary group meetings and nonprofit Partner meetings in Houston and in Burton, Texas where Camp For All is located, as needed. 

· Communicates in a clear and positive manner in writing and/or verbally with board members, community organizations, volunteers and donors. 

· Maintains flexible work schedule with the ability to work extended hours/weekends, as well as onsite at Camp as needed 

· Seeks and obtains ongoing professional development through involvement in appropriate and professional organizations

Supplemental Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· High level of oral and written communications skills, editing, proofreading, layout and design

· Must be organized, creative, professional, flexible, self-starter with the ability to accomplish projects independently and manage a variety of key communications initiatives concurrently

· Experience working collaboratively in a multi-task environment with a variety of internal and external constituent groups

· Proficiency using the latest version of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Constant Contact

· Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media with experience in the WordPress website platform

· Ability to adapt to changing priorities and offer communications counsel to both staff, Board, volunteers and Partner organizations

· Demonstrate proficiency in working with donors
