Description
In this role, you’ll help deliver high-quality mechanical engineering projects by supporting design and coordination tasks that keep projects on time and within budget. You’ll work closely with project managers and engineers in designing HVACR, hydronic, plumbing, and fire protection systems, as well as participate in technical studies, system investigations, reporting, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Perform computer-based heating and cooling load calculations for building systems.
- Assist in selecting and laying out mechanical equipment and preparing specifications for materials, construction, and equipment.
- Review equipment shop drawings/submittals to ensure alignment with design specifications.
- Conduct site visits to survey existing systems or monitor construction progress based on design specs, client expectations, and building codes.
- Participate in commissioning to ensure mechanical systems function as per design.
- Prepare condition assessments, reports, proposals, submittals, and bidding documents.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, project leaders, and external consultants, contractors, architects, and clients.
- Utilize equipment selection software and coordinate with vendors for equipment choices.
- Attend design coordination meetings with team members and clients as needed.
- Demonstrate commitment to advancing technical skills and project management capabilities.
- Represent the firm in professional organizations to enhance industry reputation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Passed or registered for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, with an intent to become a Professional Engineer.
- Prior internship(s) or relevant experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) industry, code compliance, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP software.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed (10%-20% of the time), including periodic overnight stays

Salary Description
$55,000 - $75,000 annually
