BlueWave has an immediate opening for a Medium Voltage and Substation Electrical Engineer to support Interconnection through construction activities of the MV side of the AC collection system for solar projects 1MW – 250MW.

Requirements
  • Developing and maintaining a long-range strategic capital plan regarding the operations & maintenance of electrical distribution system
  • Providing technical assistance in the areas of medium voltage (600V to 34.5KV) distribution equipment, substations, transformer, switchgear, MV cable and MV motors/generators
  • Providing power systems analysis for load flow and voltage drop, short circuit studies, equipment protection and coordination, and arc flash studies. Knowledgeable with SKM Power Tools for Windows. 
  • Providing power quality analysis as needed relating to harmonics and system disturbances
  • Project management support and Project Electrical Engineer function for projects, includeing oversight of contract project engineers
  • Providing MV Engineering assistance for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of owned assets
  • Providing technical guidance to EHS group relating to electrical safety compliance with applicable NFPA standards
  • 25%-30% travel expected for the position for office and site visits as needed
  • Remote applicants must be willing to travel to the Boston office at least once a month

Required Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the engineering, construction and design of power plants, cogeneration and/or other multi-disciplinary, energy-intensive industrial processes
  • Work related to solar or energy storage a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • PE License 
  • Ability to run models such as PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, SKM, Aspen
