Description


The primary responsibility of the Engineering Field Technician will perform field tests, assist engineers with building and materials investigations and assessments, document observed conditions during construction, prepare testing reports and construction monitoring related to the repair of existing buildings for a wide variety of project and clients.


Responsibilities of the Engineering Field Technician

  • Perform field testing, inspections, investigations, and assessments.
  • Participate in construction observation as requested by project leader.
  • Prepare inspection and field observation reports.
  • Examine buildings and structures and make recommendations for improvements and/or repair.
  • Responsible for equipment management and coordination between office locations and service lines. 
  • Investigate varied materials, such as concrete and steel to assess their suitability for use in projects.
  • Assist the project leader in the development of drawings, sketches, specifications, and sections for project layouts and contract documents in construction drafting software.
  • Communicate design issues with project leader and/or design work beyond his/her capability. 
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Required 
  • Two-year technical degree preferred
  • One-two years of construction, roofing, and or testing experience preferred
  • Must have basic knowledge of construction practices, terminology, tools, and materials. 
  • Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 certification
  • Must be willing to travel to job sites frequently, including some overnight travel.
