Role:

Our Mortgage Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of the Credit Union's Mortgage lending services to include origination, processing, budgeting, secondary market functions and servicing. Ensures that Mortgage lending operations are enforcing established policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for mortgage loans, home improvement, second mortgage and home equity loans and properly training other mortgage and retail staff with performing these functions. Ensures that Mortgage lending activities result in maximum volume, appropriate profit for the Credit Union, and a minimal delinquency ratio. Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of Mortgage lending services. Supervises and appraises the activities of subordinates and ensures that all Mortgage lending services are professionally delivered and members are well served. Participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives of the Credit Union. Provides general Credit Union information and actively participates in Cardinal’s Superior Sales & Service Program.

Mortgage Manager Job Requirements:

Experience: Five to ten years of similar or related experience.

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


Our Mortgage Manager assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of effective Mortgage Lending policies, procedures, and planning. Assists with developing short and long-term goals and plans for the Mortgage Loan Department. Develops a total Mortgage lending strategy for the Credit Union. Develops policies and procedures for Mortgage loan activities. Conducts periodic reviews of existing systems and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and legal compliance. Instigates improvements in Mortgage lending and promotion practices which will further the objectives of the Credit Union. Executes established operational goals and ensures that corporate-wide objectives are complemented and supported. Participates in developing Mortgage lending policies and procedures and ensures that they complement organizational goals. Executes established goals and coordinates their implementation with other departments and with subordinates. Monitor rates and pricing for residential loan portfolio to ensure competitiveness with marketplace. Monitor the marketplace for changes in the industry of changing trends.


Our Mortgage Manager is responsible for the completion of Mortgage Loan origination and servicing functions. Guides Interviews, actively participates and assists mortgage personnel with taking applications, and processing preliminary documentation on loan requests. Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such manner as to elicit positive responses from members. Cross-sells all other credit union services. Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria. Assists Mortgage loan staff as needed with the computation of debt ratios, verification of employment and income and determination of collateral values. Approves loans with limits of authority and notifies applicants of loan decisions. Ensures mortgage personnel properly track, review and administer in a timely fashion all aspects of mortgage servicing and are in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Responsible for the foreclosure, maintenance, and sale of residential and/or commercial properties that are in default.
