Overview

The Senior Conservation Associate for the Lawn Replacement program will play an essential role in leading crews to complete lawn removal water conservation projects across the Front Range. This role is geared towards individuals who can safely operate a trailer full of equipment and yard waste, are passionate about conservation, and will bring a positive attitude towards educating Colorado communities about water-conscious landscapes.

Job Purpose 

Water is one of the most important issues facing Colorado, and Resource Central leads residents to practical solutions that empower them to use less water. Resource Central helps people across Colorado learn about and practice water conservation and sustainable landscaping through a variety of popular conservation programs and in partnership with over 40 water providers. 

This is a field-based role that involves driving from home to appointments on a daily basis. The compensation is $19.00/hr, plus mileage reimbursement, cell phone stipend, and paid training and sick leave.


Principal Responsibilities 

The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and motivate teams of water conservation associates to help implement the largest lawn replacement program in Colorado.
  • Work in the field an average of 5 days per week April-October, performing the following

         o Operate, drive, and maneuver a ¾ ton pickup truck with a 14 ft bumper hitch hydraulic dump trailer every work day. 

         o Ability to assess and adjust trailer weights and towing capacities. 

         o Operate a sod cutter and other equipment everyday.

         o Help lead small teams to remove sections of lawn at homes, businesses, and other properties.

         o Ability to safely work outdoors in all kinds of weather including high temperatures and rain. 

         o Perform equipment checks and occasional maintenance, be available to troubleshoot.

         o Help ensure daily activities are met to achieve project completion.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, walk three miles, kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly throughout the work week required.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings in person, via Zoom, and on the phone. 
  • Works with participants to help create a water wise yard and promote Resource Central’s goals.
  • Assists with other Resource Central programs as assigned.
  • Additional time may be required, including occasional weekend and evening work.
  • Cultivates a strong sense of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

     

Skills and Abilities

  • Safely use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and picks.
  • Basic understanding of safety towards weight balancing of loads over two tons required. 
  • Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, or sustainability.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment required.
  • Outstanding customer service; ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times required.
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills preferred.


Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age to qualify for driving responsibilities.
  • 1-2 years experience towing and maneuvering a bumper hitch trailer required.
  • 1 years of experience working in a related professional industry, field work, landscaping, or water conservation field preferred.
  • Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, sprinklers, or sustainability preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, daily access to a reliable automobile, and a smartphone required.
  • Must pass a background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
