Description

SUMMARY 

The purpose of this position is to facilitate Christ-centered hospitality and programming by providing leadership and management to the teams providing this at Warm Beach Camp. This position leads in fostering healthy teamwork, planning and core systems for smooth and efficient operations. The position shall, at all times, work cooperatively with leadership, colleagues, staff and guests. Regular attendance is essential for this position.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Safety and Security

  1. Oversee the implementation of the Warm Beach Camp Ministries (WBCM) Accident Prevention Policy.
  2. Engage teams in implementing best practices in safety.
  3. Keep the WBCM Accident Prevention Plan up to date and safety training appropriately scheduled for Warm Beach Camp, Stanwood.
  4. Oversee on-site security.


Planning, Organization, Personnel

  1. Lead the planning processes for hospitality and programming in support of the corporate strategy and priorities of Warm Beach Camp (WBC).
  2. Facilitate and support research and development of best practices and new initiatives.
  3. Oversee efficient and effective operation of Food Services, Guest Services, Accommodations, Recreational Activities & Maintenance.
  4. Provide leadership support to program teams, such as Outdoor Education, Disabilities Ministry, The Lights of Christmas and Horsemanship. (The pace of overseeing all of this at once will be phased in over time.)
  5. Plan necessary labor, training and leadership development necessary to reach the goals of the ministry.
  6. Facilitate staff hiring, on-boarding, training and on-going development so that people grow into their potential in route to accomplishing the mission of WBC. This includes meetings, trainings and team building.
  7. Oversee the timely scheduling of departments and directly schedule staff hired for flexible positions across spectrum of hospitality areas and projects and programs. Maintain centralized scheduling of cross-trained personnel.
  8. Maintain efficient, timely and reliable paperwork necessary to hiring, on-boarding, training, wage assignments, performance review, coaching and discipline.
  9. Create systems of accountability and clear communication for departments in managing and supervising staff, serving guests, and meeting goals.
  10. Uphold WBC standards of professionalism as outlined in the Staff Manual and adhere to all pertinent labor laws.


Equipment, Space and Resources

  1. Maintain equipment in good working order and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for longevity and good stewardship.
  2. Work with staff to maintain organization, sanitization and efficient storage and workspaces.
  3. Research and recommend capital repair, replacement, new investments and priorities.
  4. Evaluate, recommend and monitor all vendor contracts.
  5. Manage projects as needed and requested.


Finances

  1. Work with each department in budget planning and stewardship.
  2. Provide the C.O.O. a budget-to-actuals variance report monthly.
  3. Ensure that appropriate financial policies and practices are being implemented, code invoices, weekly monitor financial impacts of operations.
  4. Monitor appropriate key performance indications of hospitality and program services.


Other

  1. Oversee housing rentals and the supervision and residential life directly or through delegated leadership.
  2. Oversee on-site IT provisioning in concert with contracted technical services.
  3. Support The Lights of Christmas operation.
  4. Serve on the WBCM Executive Leadership Team.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise direct report employees daily and weekly. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Warm Beach Camp Ministries exist to share the hope and love of Christ through camping ministries and experiences in the Pacific Northwest.


At Warm Beach Camps and Conference Center, we exist to provide Christ-centered environments, experiences and resources to draw people to God through camping ministries, conferences and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  6. Four+ years of experience as Camp Director, Assistant Director or equivalent.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

ON-CAMP HOUSING CONDITION

The employee in this position is required to live on the camp premises in staff housing, for the convenience of Warm Beach Camp in order to respond to emergency calls from guests such as:

Responding to various emergency situations. 

Delivering emergency messages to guests.

Opening sleeping room doors when keys are locked inside. 

Resetting breakers when lights go out.

Helping guests that are arriving late to the camp. 

Providing 24-hour security for safety and protection. 

Filling emergency cross-training needs.


CROSS TRAINING

This employee will be available to be cross-trained into other areas of the ministry as needs arise.
