Education and Experience:

Valid drivers license

Ohio EMT Paramedic Certification

NIMS 100/200/700/800

CPR/AED current

ACLS or equivalent

PALS or equivalent

PHTLS, ITLS, or equivalent certification

EVOS or EVOC within 6 months of hire

Suture tech certified within 6 months of hire

Written, verbal and electronic communication skills

All skills of a well-seasoned paramedic

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Administer life support, first-aid treatment and other forms of prehospital emergency care to people who are injured or sick.
  • Operate equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators and electrocardiograms for advanced life support applications.
  • Assess patients’ injury severity and type and quickly begin appropriate medical procedures.
  • Drive Paramedic units to predetermined location under the instructions of the emergency medical dispatcher.
  • Assess, record and discuss patient injuries and condition with the physician, including any treatments provided and reactions to treatments or drugs.
  • Clean and decontaminate ambulance after transporting or treating any patient with infectious disease. Report infectious disease with relevant authorities.
  • Administer drugs as appropriate and necessary via injection, intravenous procedures or oral administration under the direction of a physician.
  • Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers, fire department personnel, police and other emergency medical team members as needed to ensure that all applicable personnel are prepared to receive the patient and ensure proper treatment.
  • Be able to communicate well with nursing staff while working in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge of scope of practice when administering care to patients.
  • All other duties as assigned

Lifting, moving patients in awkward situations; climbing; balancing; stooping; kneeling; crouching; crawling; reaching; standing; walking; pushing; pulling; lifting objects, equipment and people (350 lbs.); manual dexterity; audible speech; adequate hearing; repetitive motions; working in dark and/or confined spaces; working in adverse weather conditions; working in various types of terrain and in potentially dangerous situations.
