CORMETECH has fully dedicated, state-of-the art manufacturing facilities, research and development centers and testing laboratories in Charlotte (NC), Cleveland (TN), Durham (NC), and Kings Mountain (NC).
It is the responsibility of the Full Bench Lab Technician to test SCR catalyst samples. Under the direction of the Full Bench Project Manager, the technician will operate the reactor controls, carry out laboratory testing, and assist in sample flow through the lab.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Observe work rules with an emphasis on safety
Perform daily calibration and preventative maintenance of analytical instruments and lab equipment
Utilize analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, CEMS, IC, and have a good scientific understanding of these techniques
Measure and prepare catalyst for bench reactor testing
Load and unload reactors
Change gas cylinders
Troubleshoot and ensure equipment/systems remain in operation and compliance
Write, review, and update standard operating procedures and department policies as needed
Skills and Abilities:
Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills in laboratory testing and equipment
Experience in FTIR and CEM systems, ICP, operations, and a broad understanding of various analytical techniques
Ability to read and interpret PI&Ds a plus
Knowledge of PLC driven analytical systems a plus
Strong work ethic, self-motivated and able to follow through on responsibilities and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Work in a laboratory with hazardous chemicals. Must be able to wear a full-face respirator as required
Experience with MS Office applications including Word, Excel & Outlook
Organized and detail oriented
Excellent communication and organizational skills required
Bachelor’s degree with a background in science or engineering
Associates degree AND 2+ years’ experience in a lab or industrial setting
This job operates in a plant environment. This role routinely requires moving around equipment thus the need for safety at all times. Temperature can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The noise level is high and requires attentiveness. Environment can be dusty at times.
Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of up to 40 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate maintenance equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are inside and outside with routine repeated exposure to temperature variations, damp/wet surfaces, cleaning fluids, and dirty environment.
