Description

This position reports to CRC’s Senior Vice President. The primary function of the Research Assistant is to assist with the Publications Department information collection and written reports. The intern will research and write blog posts, articles that may wind up in publications, and profiles about the individuals and organizations that are working to influence public policy.


Responsibilities:

• Perform research work in archives, online, or as appropriate to assist the scholars.

• Gather and analyze the research.

• Assist in the preparation of op-eds and CRC reports.

• Write for CRC’s blog and its print publications.

• Organize research files and their corresponding materials.

• Perform routine clerical duties as instructed if essential to the research activities of the supervisor or project to which the research assistant is assigned.

• Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss research assignments.

• Write a newspaper op-ed and a lead article for one of CRC’s newsletters.

• Work with the publications team to continually improve the processes and procedures so that best practices are used to maximize impact and effectiveness.

• Assist scholars with other publication related activities.


Requirements

Applicants should be computer literate and should be skilled in research and writing. They should share CRC’s free-market principles, its interest in researching and reporting on special-interest groups, and its devotion to exposing corruption and deception in politics and public policy.
