JOB TITLE:            Packaging Technician 1
DEPARTMENT:    Production 

REPORTS TO:      Packaging Manager  
FLSA STATUS:      Full-Time/Non-Exempt

RATE:                    $20.00 - $23.00 / HR 

BONUS:                Eligible for Department Bonuses 

LOCATION:          Santa Rosa, CA

SHIFT:                   4/10 Shifts with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. 


Packaging Technician 1 Summary: 


Packaging Technicians operate or tend machines to prepare HenHouse Brewing Projects for storage or shipment. The primary role of the Packaging Technician is to ensure the highest standards of quality, sanitation and food safety are met as beer is packaged into kegs, cans and bottles. 


Our Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will enjoy fast-paced and hands-on work and will be detail-oriented, with the ability to work as part of a team or independently on the HenHouse Brewing canning line. The ideal candidate will have a high level of urgency and dependability.  


On the Job you would be responsible for:( include, but not limited to the following):


Packaging Operations: 

  • Controlling Packaging Machines and Processes — Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate packaging machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).

Primary Focus for Packaging Tech 1: (90% Job Focus): 

  • Filling kegs and cans with HenHouse product 
  • Cleaning Kegs 
  • Temperature and pressure management of tanks
  • Clear equipment jams and notify others’ of equipment repair or maintenance needs
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed
  • Package products for storage or shipment including stacking of pallets
  • Maintain counts and inventory of finished products 
  • Maintenance and use of chemical titration kits and pH strips
  • Carbonation and O2 readings on BBTs
  • Forklift Operations 

Secondary Focus for Packaging Tech 1: (10% Job Focus) 

  • General facility sanitation and maintenance
  • Warehouse Assistance and backup, as needed 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Computer Skills: 

  • Must demonstrate moderate computer and smartphone skills
  • Experience working with computerized packaging/canning equipment or the ability to learn
  • Experience with Netsuite or the ability to learn 
  • Must have working knowledge of Google Suite skills - google docs, meet and chat

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience in food/beverage manufacturing, warehouse operations or equivalent 
  • High school diploma required. 
  • Bilingual, verbal and written, (Spanish), preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • Forklift Safety Course & Certification Required 
  • 1 Hour CA Anti-Harassment & Anti-Bullying Certification Required - every 2 years 
  • Valid CA Drivers License & Proof of Insurance Required 
  • Other safety and job related courses, workshops and certifications may be assigned as part of the professional growth, development and performance requirements of this role.
