What we’re looking for: 

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the entry and verification of payroll, processing and reconciling payroll for several entities with employees in multiple states, and audits data to ensure paychecks are correct, delivered on time, and are following all federal, state, and local tax and payroll laws. This position is the first point of contact for employees with payroll questions and issues. 


Here’s a deeper look at what you’ll be doing: 

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll independently for both union and non – union employees within a set, scheduled deadline for multiple legal entities.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws, ensuring all payroll is in accordance with FLSA, Wage Hour law and union contracts. 
  • Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and processing adjustments.
  • Assist in managing the payroll and benefits reconciliations, termination dates, tax withholding and reporting, and other items as required.
  • Prepare payroll and benefits reconciliations to the general ledger and assist with payroll and benefits cost allocations in Yardi.
  • Assist with preparing support for annual filings of 5500’s and the annual 401K audit.
  • Manage Time & Attendance platform with support staff and supervisors while maintaining precise payroll records.
  • Assist with managing unemployment insurance claims. 
  • Assist with refining and implementing improvements to all payroll processes and documented procedures.
  • Assist with payroll system configuration and changes.
  • Perform timely payroll audits, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Respond to employment verification requests.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements

Your experience: 

  • A minimum of 4-6 year of experience running payroll for multi-state organization(s) of 400-1,000+ employees. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR/Payroll systems, Time & Attendance systems, and reporting tools; Paylocity is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of withholding tax, related tax filings, tax policy and employment regulations as they relate to reporting in states where we operate.
  • Understanding of payroll processes, labor & compliance guidelines, and best practices, and ability to demonstrate effective application of that knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and vendors.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency and ability to work with large data sets.
  • Ability to anticipate important timing needs that may impact the company’s payroll.
  • Proactive, motivated, and confidential individual capable of partnering with operations, human resources, and other business partners.
  • Ability to handle numerous priorities in a dynamic and growing environment.
  • Able to effectively present and information and respond to questions from management, vendors, and associates.
  • Adhere to tight deadlines and quick turnaround for deliverables.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment where adaptability is imperative.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Accurate with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

The salary for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 annually.
