Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing a safe and fun faith-based environment for our Day Camp Programs. This includes, but is not limited to direct supervision of children, as well as program planning and implementation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


SEASONAL CAMP:

  • Assists in the daily operation of the Summer Camp Program.
  • Plans and coordinates activities in alignment with children’s needs.  
  • Responsible for group activity and check-in
  • Completes planning and preparation of craft, sport, and group games.
  • Communicates effectively and confidentially with parents.
  • Oversees general clean-up of program areas, and assists in cleanliness of the campus.
  • Maintains professional conduct and attitude, treating children with dignity, respect, and loyalty.
  • Maintains professionalism and loyalty to the program and supports the policies of Rock Academy.
  • Ensures the safety of all children, and that all safety guidelines and properly implemented and maintained.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Must be able to support the beliefs of The Rock Academy and The Rock Church through conduct and conversation.  Must be 18 years of age, undergoing professional preparations to be a leader of young children, or have experience working with young children.  Warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.


DISCIPLESHIP: 

Individuals must represent Christ in their actions and conduct. Being ready and able to teach and mentor students in practical ways in the biblical worldview.


LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, children, and other staff members.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Criminal record clearance obtained by fingerprinting or record clearance prior to reporting to job assignment, including a signed statement regarding criminal convictions.  CPR and First Aid Certifications obtained within 10 days of employment.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Individuals must be able to lead and participate in active sports and games with children.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally small children in an emergency.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Description
$16.50 hourly (DOE)
