Description
The Bible teacher must be a member of a congregation of the Churches of Christ. The teacher must be able to communicate effectively through a relational approach striking a balance between textual studies and application. The Bible teacher is a part of the secondary faculty and reports to the secondary principal. All members of the Bible department are expected to contribute to chapel and other spiritual development activities and other duties as assigned.
Major Responsibilities:
- Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans, including instructional objectives, learning activities, and assessments
- Utilize appropriate educational technology
- Maintain appropriate pacing in accordance with the Curriculum guide
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with all members of the Bible department and other faculty
- Demonstrate the spiritual maturity to inspire student learning and understanding of the age group
- Maintain a positive classroom environment, conducive to learning, yet open questioning and participation
- Effectively communicate and partner with parents in the educational and spiritual development of students
- Support school initiatives and show support for student interests outside of the school day
Requirements
- Member of a congregation of the Churches of Christ
- Exhibits a strong faith and exemplary lifestyle
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Bible or theology. (Other degrees from a Christian college or university may be considered)
- Experience using classroom technology, electronic resources, programs, and platforms
- Ability to accept direction and professional development
- Experience working with youth
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- Must submit to a background check
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships
