Kula Bio produces sustainable, biological solutions for modern agriculture. As we enter a growth phase of business, we are expanding our accounting department with an experienced accountant who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to implement the accounting roadmap through scalable policies, procedures, systems and standards. 

On a typical day, you will partner with the Controller to maintain complete and accurate books and records, complete month end close with supporting reconciliations, execute reporting processes and procedures, perform internal control activities and maintain timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will have responsibility for the AP/AR processes which includes management of vendor communication and banking information. You will have ownership of the payroll process which includes running semi-monthly and monthly payrolls with the support of a third-party payroll provider and Human Resources. This role will require extensive and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams across the organization. 

To thrive in this role, you have experience in a generalized accounting role, accounts payable, accounts receivable and ideally payroll. You understand the importance of attention to detail and project management. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and is a self-starter who is comfortable in an agile and growing organization.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• At least 4 years of experience in Finance/Accounting 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
• Experience at a manufacturing and/or research and development organization preferred
• Experience with QuickBooks preferred
• Strong analytical and process skills with attention to detail/accuracy
• Intellectually curious, creative, and a broad-based thinker
• Ability to effectively operate in a small company atmosphere, dealing well with fast learning/ reacting quickly / readjusting priorities as appropriate
