JOB DESCRIPTION
Epiq Solutions is seeking a full time Senior Electrical Technician with at least five years of hands-on experience to join our team developing both custom and commercial wireless communications systems. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform testing, debugging, and analysis of Epiq Solutions' wireless communications products. The ideal candidate would have previous experience supporting an electronics production environment, developing and executing test procedures, testing wireless devices using RF test equipment, and troubleshooting production issues to understand their root cause. Specific job tasks include the following:
- Develop, document, and conduct production test procedures on Epiq's products, modules, and printed circuit boards
- Utilize standard radio electronics test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, and RF spectrum analyzers, to troubleshoot electronic hardware
- Perform repairs on defective modules and printed circuit boards
- Develop and set up production test environments for Epiq's products, including automated test procedures
- Provide training for test equipment and test procedures to junior-level production staff
- Assist engineering team when transitioning a design in to production
- Analyze quality data for continuous improvements in production process
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Required Skills
- Associate's degree in electronics or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of experience with board level troubleshooting and repair
- Significant real-world experience performing analysis and debugging of complex electronic printed circuit boards down to the component level
- Able to read and interpret schematics, PCB layout, and assembly documents for electronic printed circuit boards
- Comfortable soldering both through-hole and SMT devices
- Comfortable working with engineering staff to develop test procedures and documentation
- Self-motivated personality and ability to work independently as well as on a team
- Ability to multitask between two or more projects
- Willingness / ability to travel occasionally to support integration and testing efforts with customers
- Employee must either have or be willing and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
Desired Skills
- Solid understanding of radio concepts and RF circuit design
- Experience testing and debugging wireless communication devices
- Experience interfacing to electronic test equipment via GPIB using SCPI or similar standard to control instrumentation
- Experience with one or more computer programming languages to support the development of automated test procedures and scripts (Python preferred)
- Experience using Linux
