Description

Prevailance is seeking an experienced, mission-focused professional to support the Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC) as a Damage Control (DC) Firefighting Contractor Instructor. The DC Instructor will support SWSC and providing instruction, operation, testing, remediation, curriculum support (includes updates and maintenance of curriculum), administration, safety, and management support services for formalized naval training.


Responsibilities:

The DC Instructor is responsible for technical and military training, involving instructor services and remediation for DOD personnel, including Navy and Allied Forces officer and enlisted personnel, temporarily assigned to SWSC San Diego, CA for training.

Requirements

 The Damage Control Firefighting Contractor Instructor shall have the following qualifications:

  • Graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A-012-0077) (NEC 9502) OR equivalent instructor training course
  • A minimum of three (3) years technical experience in the subject matter hired to instruct
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Military Training Environment
  • Knowledge of learning principles, practices, and methods of presentation and delivery of course content, testing and remediation procedures, curriculum, training aids, devices, electronic podiums, TTE, lab equipment, equipment operation and maintenance procedures associated with the course
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the area of safety, in-depth knowledge of all aspects of diesel inspection process

Specific Qualifications:

  • Must be a former Senior (E5 – E9) Surface Ship Damage Controlman or similar rating
  • A graduate of at least seven (7) of the following courses:
  1. General Shipboard Fire Fighting Training – Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) (A-495-0416)
  2. Shipboard Fire Fighting Integrated Team Trainer (A-495-0018)
  3. Shipboard Firefighting / Damage Control Emergency Team Member (A-495-0021)
  4. Shipboard Aircraft Fire Fighting (J-495-0413)
  5. Air Capable Ship Helicopter Fire Fighting (J-495-0414)
  6. Advanced Shipboard Fire Fighting (J-495-0419)
  7. Damage Control Repair Party Team Leader (K-495-0040)
  8. Shipboard Damage Control team Trainer (K-495-0045)
  9. Damage Control Petty Officer (K-495-0440)
  10. AFFF foam generation (K-495-2179)
  11. Gas Free Engineering (K-495-0051) 
  • Have comprehensive knowledge in the area of safety, shipboard and aircraft fire fighting procedures, and shipboard damage control procedures
  • Meet high risk training standards: Instructors must be personally capable of performing all training evolutions including the ability to effectively ascend or descend ladders, go through narrow passageways, be free of any abnormal fear of heights, withstand extreme heat conditions, and lift a maximum of 50 lbs

Desired:

  • Navy Damage Controlman (CPO preferred) or Engineering Department Leader (EN, GS, EM, etc., CPO preferred)
  • 9502 Basic Instructor NEC or ATG experience
  • Shipboard firefighting experience
  • Current Basic EMT qualification, or higher

Education:

  • NEC 9502 Navy Instructor or equivalent
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Clearance:

Must be able to obtain a favorable background

Salary Description
$40,000 - $70,000
