PUYALLUP TRIBAL HEALTH AUTHORITY, located in Tacoma Washington, is seeking a Independent Contractor Pulmonologist for four (4) hours per week and occasionally one (1) to two (2) hours providing didactics.

GENERAL FUNCTION:  Provide consultation and treatment for PTHA patients with pulmonary concerns. Support PTHA’s education mission by allowing medical residents and students to shadow during clinic and provide occasional didactics in the field of pulmonology.   

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat pulmonary concerns and emergencies as credentialed and privileged at PTHA.
  • Make referrals to specialists as per PTHA protocol and follow-up to assure quality care.
  • Provide back-up consultation to other on-call PTHA providers as scheduled. 
  • Responsible for completing charts thoroughly and accurately, within required time frame.
  • Responsible for meeting reporting requirements of the organization as directed. 
  • Allow medical resident and students to shadow during clinic.
  • Occasionally provide didactics in the field of pulmonology. 
  • Maintain and demonstrate professionalism and self-care techniques on an ongoing basis within the work place.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree from an accredited institution. 
  • Successful completion of a pulmonary fellowship. 
  • Board certified in pulmonary medicine. 
  • Current license to practice in the State of Washington. 
  • Current certification in ACLS and/or PALS and/or ALSO, as required. 
  • Experience and/or ability to work with an Electronic Health Records System.  
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in practice as a pulmonologist. 
  • Ten (10) years’ experience teaching residents.
