Branches educates and inspires people through student, family, and financial wellness services in partnership with our communities. With our 2-Gen approach, we address the needs of both parent and child simultaneously and support each family member in reaching their full potential.

  

POSITION SUMMARY

AmeriCorps Members are individuals who serve in an approved national service position and are eligible, upon completion of service hours, to receive an educational award from the National Service Trust. At Branches, in partnership with Volunteer Florida, Inc., members serve in Grow & Climb and support the delivery of learning and enrichment opportunities that accelerate academic recovery and potential; support social and emotional resilience; and advance post-secondary readiness and success for K-12 students in afterschool and summer settings.

Transformational Opportunities

  • Support the implementation of homework assistance, physical activity, and enrichment activities for K-5 students in afterschool and summer
  • Support the implementation of academic supports, physical activity, and life skills development activities for middle and high school students in afterschool and summer
  • Engage in weekly team meetings
  • Complete daily tasks effectively and collaboratively
  • Keep students safe by adhering to the Department of Children and Families licensure standards and organizational policies as detailed in the Grow & Climb Operations Manual
  • Attend professional development opportunities as required or needed
Requirements

REQUIRED COMMITMENT

Service Hours: Reduced Full-Time (1200 Hours)  

Program Service Date: August 2023 – July 2024

School Year: Monday – Friday from approximately 1:00pm – 7:00pm  

Summer: Monday – Friday from approximately 9:00am – 3:30pm 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma; some post-secondary experience preferred
  • Successful experience mentoring students in an afterschool or summer setting
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English necessary; Spanish and/or Creole language skills are a plus

AMERICORPS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • The Member certifies that he/she is a United States citizen, a United States National, or a legal permanent resident and at least 17 years of age.
  • The Member certifies that he/she holds a high school diploma or its equivalent and has passed a proficiency test of reading.
  • The Member understands and agrees to complete one full year of full-time service in the Program for the time period defined under the Terms of Service section of this contract.
  • The Member agrees to submit to the training requirements of the Program including but not limited to First Aid/CPR. Introduction to Disaster, Diversity, Citizenship, and Life After AmeriCorps. Also, any required trainings as it relates to the site.
  • The Member agrees to submit to a fingerprint and FBI criminal background check as required by the service site and/or Program. Enrollment and eligibility of member is subject to successful background/fingerprint clearance. Member will be disqualified from service if the results are analyzed and found to be unacceptable to the service site or to the program.

LOCATIONS & SERVICE CONDITIONS

The majority of service is performed at one of our three locations: Florida City, South Miami, and North Miami. Reliable transportation is needed as the position requires commuting to trainings, some of which may be on evenings or weekends.
