General Superintendent
Description

Leads the Field Superintendent and Sr. Field Superintendent team. Supports in the day-to-day activities including customer relations, troubleshooting, safety, workload, training and staffing. 

  • Communicates and interacts with clients about construction needs and concerns before, during and after projects, providing the client with personal attention. 
  • Assists Design Department and out-sourced Architectural firms on  pre-job walk through and identifies potential issues and any hidden conditions with additions and/or remodel projects. 
  • Supports Field Superintendents with day-to-day progress and any issues that may arise with owners and contractors. 
  • Troubleshoots and resolves any issues or concerns during and after construction is completed. 
  • May assist Project Managers in attaining and pre-qualifying  sub-contractors for projects throughout all regions. Once sub-contractors are selected, meets them on-site during bid process. 
  • Reviews drawings for accuracy to reduce incorrect details. 
  • Arranges a pre-punch walk through with the Field Superintendents to assure a smooth transition to our clients. 
  • Ensure site operates safely.  Assist the Vice President of  Safety with OSHA  requirement enforcement, training and any safety related issues that arise on any of the construction sites. 
  • Distributes the workload so that all projects run as efficiently and professionally as possible. 
  • Assists with former customers on warranty work (including one-year warranty walk-throughs) and any building issues. 
  •  Assists on estimating service projects, meeting with bidders and  running the project. 
  • Provides continuous training for all Field Superintendents. 
  • Provides backup for any Field Superintendent who may be on a medical leave or paid time off. 
  • Develop Construction Quality Control items. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises (Sr.) Field Superintendents in the Construction Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, directing and reviewing work; appraising performance; rewarding and providing corrective action for employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  

Education (i.e. degree required)

High school diploma or general education degree (GED);


Experience and/or Training (i.e. the kind of skills and knowledge and number of years required)

Eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  

Licenses/Certificates (e.g. trade certificates, driver’s licenses, professional certifications, etc. required)

OSHA 10 training is helpful.


Technology/Equipment (if applicable, the proficiencies required to perform the job)

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Word. Procore experience is  very helpful.
