The Director of Student Services will oversee all aspects of student experience while at the Marie Philip School (MPS). The Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of related student services and after school programming. This includes, but is not limited to, various programs, creating and implementing policies and procedures, special projects, community/business services and technology.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act in an administrative capacity:
Provide positive and proactive leadership to staff and students (e.g., communications, resolving problematic issues, developing strategies, conflict resolution, goal setting, etc.);
Support quality residential programming for deaf and hard of hearing students (e.g., lifelong learning skills, behavior modification, recreation, dormitory living, social interaction, personal hygiene, IEP/ISP development, community outreach programming);
Support recommended and current policies, procedures and programs that enhance the safety and well-being of students;
Review, and assist in the development of, the various program budgets and directing expenditures of the residential program, school clinical team, athletics, after school program, and the support services team; as well as other relevant programs as determined.
Update the superintendent regularly on assigned program/department issues (e.g., facility, student and staff needs).
Serve as a representative, as needed, on behalf of the superintendent, at meetings relevant to the Marie Philip School.
Represent MPS in the community on matters pertaining to student needs.
Coordinate and manage the student support services:
Review reports of staff and student misconduct cases that require disciplinary action to lead and ensure recommendations conform to school policies;
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss intervention plans;
Communicate with parents;
Actively support and administer the mobile crisis intervention efforts and make calls to state agencies pertaining to students’ safety as needed.
Supervision of staff:
Supervise assigned supervisors/coordinators, including participation in interviewing candidates for employment, supporting staff evaluations, and making recommendations for personnel actions.
Meet regularly with each assigned program supervisor (and program staff, as needed) to review student progress, schedules, and program goals, collaborating with others as needed.
Assure that supervisors/coordinators are trained and/or provide training to staff (e.g., staff development, dormitory routines/procedures, safety/emergency practices, accountability logs);
Monitor and approve or manage staff requests for personal time off, professional development, and purchases.
Quality and growth of programs:
Develop and expand services within each program, based on the needs and interests of the students served; explore related funding opportunities.
Develop and expand summer programming and extracurricular opportunities.
Work cooperatively with athletic and afterschool programs, the school clinical supervisor, and counseling staff to maintain a commitment to a fulfilling social-emotional education curriculum.
Design the overall implementation of a residential life curriculum that provides recreational experiences, life experiences, practical living skills, informal counseling, and appropriate behavioral models and intervention for deaf young adolescents.
Work with the Superintendent to develop and create plans for supporting the programs within the scope of the role.
**May be required to drive students on field trips and/or to mainstreaming classes. Additional driving responsibilities as needed.

This is a new role for MPS, and we are excited to partner with a progressive and flexible leader that will assist in not only designing the nature of the position but in adapting to future needs identified in collaboration with the Superintendent through its inceptions.
This position will follow the 11-month schedule of 216 work days.
