SUMMARY: 

We’re looking for a friendly, outgoing, and dependable Swimming Lessons Deck Supervisor to help us deliver the highest quality swimming lessons to our valued and loyal customers at Four Season 1 in Bloomington IL. As a key member of our management team, the Lessons Deck Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the best learning and teaching environment for the students and teachers during each class. In addition, the Lessons Deck Supervisor will also teach swimming lessons on an as needed basis as determined by our Lessons Coordinator Laura Hutchins. For the past thirty years we have been the community leader in providing quality swimming lessons to students of all ages including babies, toddlers, children, and adults. We offer lessons Monday through Friday 3:30 to 7:15 pm and Monday and Wednesday 9:00 am to Noon during the summer, and Monday through Friday 3:30 to 7:15 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to Noon during the school year. 


Capabilities: All candidates interested in this position MUST be very comfortable and confident in this very visible role on the deck of the pool and ENJOY interacting and communicating with parents, students, and teachers on a regular basis. You must also be passionate about teaching children and adults and be comfortable being in the pool (88 degrees F) for up to 4 hours at a time and be able to demonstrate the skills being taught to students. Requirements

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Maintain the best learning and teaching environment for students and teachers. 

Communicate with Parents regarding questions or concerns about their student’s progress.

Assist instructors with correcting stroke deficiencies, student behavior, and class management. 

Teach swim classes on an as needed basis as determined by our Lessons Coordinator Laura Hutchins. 

Assist in the set up and tear down of lesson equipment and stations at the beginning and end of lessons.

Attend periodic in-services.

SMILE and display a positive and pleasant attitude working with coworkers and 4S staff. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Own or have access to reliable transportation. 

Current CPR and First Aid certification required. If expired, we can update.

Must have good swimming skills and be able to teach all levels of swim classes.

Previous swim instructor experience, competitive swimming experience and/or experience with children preferred.

Display a passion for health and wellness. 

Ability to physically assist swimmers in the pool during swim lessons, including the ability to swim, tread water in the deep end, and freely access all areas of the pool. 

Ability to visually and auditorily monitor swimmers’ activities and safety in the pool area. 

 Able to communicate with staff, members, and others in person, by telephone, and in writing. 


WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Functions regularly within aquatic positions including chlorine exposure; limited office work but knowledge of google drive and excel is helpful. 


APPLICATION PROCESS:

Compensation is competitive, hourly and based on experience. 

Complementary 4 Seasons membership. 

FT employees receive 1-2 weeks vacation pay.
