Arapahoe Basin Vehicle Maintenance Mechanics perform maintenance on all of Arapahoe Basin’s vehicle fleet which includes snowcats, heavy equipment, snowmobiles, and on-road vehicles.

Requirements

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure A-Basin’s vehicle fleet is in safe and proper working condition by following all regular maintenance schedules for any specific machine
  • Understand basic machine operation for a variety of vehicle types 
  • Perform weekly machine checks for leaks, wear, and other potential damage to vehicles 
  • Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repair with the direct supervision and/or assistance of Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic III
  • Maintain neat, clean, and orderly workshop and surrounding areas
  • Learn and stay up-to-date on A-Basin’s grooming methods and trail network
  • Direct the company’s Hazardous Materials Handling Procedures and Guidelines; educate others on this topic
  • Properly document all completed work orders on a daily basis
  • Maintain and meet all OSHA standards
  • Work closely with other departments as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Vehicle Maintenance – Mechanic III – Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of mechanical systems on various types of machinery 
  • Log machine issues, repairs, and parts usage on computer with Microsoft Excel
  • Advanced fabrication skills (ex: tig/aluminum welding, structural welding, ability to completely fabricate machine parts)
  • Complete knowledge of hydraulic system function; ability to adjust/repair hydraulic pumps 
  • Complete diagnostic capability for diesel engines including use of Caterpillar ET and SisWeb
  • Complete knowledge of electrical systems including diagnostics and repair
  • Ability to order parts efficiently taking into account alternative vendors, timeline, and current parts inventory
  • Ability to effectively manage service, maintenance, and repair of entire on- and off-road vehicle fleet


Requirements:

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Experience Requirements: 
  • Previous experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair
  • Previous experience working in a shop or field-service environment

Skills Required:

  • Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of mechanical maintenance on various types of machinery 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of safety consciousness
  • Strong mechanical problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work with others and in a team environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to withstand high altitude conditions at all times
  • Ability to use full range of body motion and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, twist, kneel, pull, and push
  • Ability to stand, kneel, squat, and lay under machines throughout a 10-hour shift
  • Ability to crawl under and/or hoist oneself on top of machinery
  • Ability to visually and audibly inspect machinery for irregularities

Other Requirements:

  • Must be available weekends and holidays and possible at night
  • Must pass a motor vehicle records background check – preferred 

Work Environment:

  • The position works mainly indoors in the Vehicle Maintenance Shop. Some work outside in snowy, icy, and inclement weather is required. Most work time is spent moving around on one’s feet or in other potentially strenuous positions.
