Roles and Responsibilities
The Assistant Controller provides day-to-day oversight of the A/P, Billing & A/R, and Payroll functions. Carries key responsibilities in month-end general accounting processes and serves as primary back-up for the Controller. Responsible for continuous incremental improvement in processes under oversight. Leads special projects as needed. The Assistant Controller is viewed as a successor to the Controller role and is expected to develop into those responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities include
Accounting team leadership
- Meets regularly with CFO and Controller to review and manage Accounting function priorities. Serves as subject matter expert for processes under oversight.
Function leadership
- Effectively leads with four-member team in day-to-day responsibilities for A/P, Billing and A/R, and Payroll.
- Prepares and conducts quarterly People Analyzers for direct reports to ensure effective performance for by all team members.
- Assistance with Financial statements and Budget Preparation
Month-end processes
- Responsible for month-end reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts.
- Responsible for preparing intercompany billings
- Responsible for reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts
- Posts journal entries
- Monitor and manage the collections process
- Keep up with due dates
Controller back-up
- Cross-train to serve as key backup for Controller’s responsibilities
Collaboration with other company functional areas
- Collaborates with key leaders of other functional areas, such as Service, Production, and Project Management, to ensure interrelated processes are functioning effectively
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
Special projects
- Lead special projects as assigned ensuring effective and timely completion.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE
Deadlines met – deliver high quality, accurate outputs on time every time because nearly all accounting activities are subject to fixed deadlines.
Scorecard goals designed and met – design effective weekly scorecard measures for key responsibilities, at both the personal and team levels; monitor and take appropriate actions to ensure sustained achievement of scorecard goals.
All employees: Must represent Rackley Roofing Company, Inc. to customers, vendors, industry professionals, and other RRCI employees in a professional manner at all times. Must be available by phone 24/7 and able to work some weekends.
