Position Summary: Banks Construction is seeking a Field Heavy Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment and diesel trucks in the field. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to minimizing downtime and keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do:
- Travel to job sites to perform on-site diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment and trucks
- Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes
- Complete service reports and document repairs performed
- Communicate with operators and supervisors regarding equipment issues and repair timelines
- Maintain service truck inventory, tools, and equipment
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies
Typical Equipment Worked On:
- Excavators
- Dozers
- Loaders
- Asphalt pavers
- Skid steers
- Dump trucks & tractor-trailers
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience working on heavy equipment and/or diesel trucks preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to troubleshoot independently in the field
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Must own basic mechanic tools (specialty tools may be provided by company)
- Welding/fabrication experience is a plus
- OEM certifications or training are a plus

- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs regularly
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb on/off equipment and work in tight spaces
Work Environment: This position is primarily field-based and includes exposure to dirt, grease, noise, weather, and construction job site conditions.
