Candidate Profile:

Mount Dora Christian Academy and Children's Home (MDCA&CH) seeks a strategic, innovative, and passionate leader to serve as president. The president is the chief executive officer of MDCA&CH and, in partnership with the board of trustees, is responsible for advancing the organization's spiritual and educational leadership. He or she will collaborate with the board to ensure effective communication is in place for thoughtful and effective management and decision-making. 


The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership in Christian education and the ability to communicate a compelling vision with students, faculty, staff, parents, and other stakeholders. The individual will be informed in current educational choice initiatives and have a research-based outlook. He or she will empower others, including faculty and staff, to build organizational health.


The candidate must understand the cultural shifts underway in America surrounding faith and embrace MDCA&CH's Statement of Faith and Community Covenant. He or she will exhibit spiritual maturity and a strong personal and family commitment to the body of Christ. This individual will also demonstrate wisdom and be an insightful, compassionate servant-leader with the ability to discern complex matters. 


As a community leader, the ideal candidate will also be ready for active connection and positive representation of the organization beyond the bounds of campus. He or she will develop relationships with potential donors and actively participate in fundraising events for MDCA&CH.


About Mount Dora Christian Academy & Children's Home:

Established in 1945 on 70 acres in Mount Dora, Florida, Mount Dora Christian Academy & Children’s Home serves students from PK2 through grade 12 as well as children and families. We believe in the power of a Christ-centered community to cultivate faith-driven world changers. Building on our legacy of faith and service, we educate, equip, and empower our community to love God and others, pursue excellence, and impact our world.


MDCA has received multiple awards for outstanding academics, athletics, and fine arts while staying focused on faith-filled learning. Our student body comprises more than 785 students from throughout Central Florida and reflects remarkable diversity in heritage, ethnicity, and socio-economics. MDCH is home to more than 35 children and families living in our residential group home and single-parent residences. MDCA&CH has been affiliated with the Churches of Christ since its establishment nearly 80 years ago. Applicants should be active, faithful members of a congregation within the Churches of Christ.

Requirements

 

Preferred Education/Experience: 

  • Educational specialist or doctoral degree
  • Minimum of five years in educational leadership in a relevant capacity
  • Experience in Christian education as administrator, faculty, board, etc.
  • Experience in supervising a large staff
  • Demonstrated expertise in introducing and adopting innovations
  • Strong leadership skills in strategic planning and fiscal planning and management
  • Proven record of raising funds by articulating to external audiences the value of supporting an organization

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Ability to recruit, motivate, evaluate, and lead faculty and staff effectively
  • Analytical leader who is energetic, personable, creative, and decisive
  • Ability to plan and execute sizable projects and programs while shaping a supportive work culture
  • Demonstrated success in developing the skills needed to fundraise for a vibrant Christian organization

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Models servant leadership
  • Exhibits characteristics of a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions
  • Articulates and applies biblical principles in the life and work of the organization


All applicants must be members of a local congregation of the Churches of Christ and able to sign and abide by the MDCA Statement of Faith in order to be considered.
