Salary & Benefits: $16-$18/hr DOE to start, 20% store discount, accrued paid time off, eligible for company benefits after 90 days depending on scheduled hours

Hours: 24-40 depending on offer letter

Job Summary: The Security and Loss Prevention Representative is responsible for supporting and managing a safe, secure and welcoming Co-op for all staff and customers. They will exhibit a sense of urgency when responding to all emergency situations, monitor daily activity on the sales floor to ensure policies and procedures are being followed, and will maintain a physical security presence on the sales floor while interacting with customers to ensure a safe and pleasant customer experience. Security and Loss Prevention Representatives support and encourage consistent implementation of the Co-op’s customer service standards and support the Facilities Manager and Front End Manager in identifying and implementing processes, policies and standards.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Front End & Floor Support

  • Maintain physical presence on sales floor enhancing a positive customer experience while physically observing and watching for safety and security concerns
  • Enforce store policies and procedures regarding security, food safety and loss prevention in a firm and fair manner
  • Ensure proper store cleanliness and appearance 
  • Model supportive and participatory leadership qualities, promoting staff development, team building and motivating staff to achieve department goals
  • Support the coworkers in managing all aspects of the store operations based on goals, objectives and standards  
  • Ensure a safe environment through diligent active patrol, strict access control and monitoring of the store
  • Ensure adequate staff presence on sales floor 
  • De-escalate disorderly customers to satisfy customers and staff and maintain a welcoming shopping atmosphere
  • Escort trespassers, discharged staff and other unwelcome parties out of the store
  • After business hours ensure doors, windows and gates to the property are secure 
  • Contact law enforcement, fire department or other emergency personnel in case of an emergency 
  • Offer and solicit constructive feedback on how current systems or departments can be improved to mitigate shrink in all forms, both internally and externally caused 

Customer Service

  • Greet members and shoppers
  • Ensure excellent customer service 
  • Communicate honestly and professionally in a manner that shows respect and preserves dignity for all employees, shoppers and community members

Accountabilities

  • Document and report all incidents related to safety and security accordingly 
  • Keep abreast of loss prevention industry knowledge and conditions of current local retail market
  • Know, follow and inform others of the Safety and Emergency Procedures
  • Interface with authorities and attend court hearings as required 


Requirements

Key Aptitudes, Experience & Physical Qualifications:

Key Aptitudes & Experience

  • Familiarity with CCTV
  • Familiarity with ADT security systems 
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
  • Authoritative verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations
  • Ability to learn the layout of the store and property 
  • 2+ years work experience in workplace with cultural, racial and economic diversity
  • Proficient with computers and aptitude to learn new software and systems 
  • First aid/CPR/AED certification preferred 
  • ServeSafe certification preferred 

Physical Qualifications

  • Must be able to stand and walk short distances for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Ability to access different areas quickly with a sense of urgency
  • Lift 50 lbs as needed 
  • Climb stairs and ladders 
  • May need to work in cold or wet environments
