Description

Through our shared values and culture of professional team service, we engage and inspire the Aggie Network to support Texas Aggies and perpetuate the Aggie Spirit. We seek an individual to join a highly motivated team in selflessly advancing The Association of Former Students’ noble mission by directing all aspects of the Former Student Programs office, including Class Programs, Club Programs, Constituent Networks, Young Alumni engagement, and Travel Programs. 


The Director identifies and delivers cost-effective programming and resources to connect and engage former students with The Association in support of Texas A&M University and the Aggie Network; organizes communications, meetings and activities of the Leadership Council; and evolves volunteer leaders into Association ambassadors.


The successful candidate will demonstrate skill and devotion toward the development and cultivation of trusted, long-term relationships; serve as a professional ambassador for The Association and Texas A&M University; and exhibit an elevated level of organizational detail to ensure the effective and efficient administration of programs and initiatives. 


DUTIES

Provides direction and consultation for Class Programs staff and activities:

  • Ensures proactive, ongoing communication between Classes and The Association.
  • Provides input to Manager and Coordinators of Class Programs in interactions with Class Agents. 
  • Provides input to Manager and Coordinators of Class Programs and Events Team in planning Reunions. 
  • Provides on-site logistical event support as needed. 
  • Ensures Association fundraising and strategic branding messages are incorporated into all Class communications. 

Provides direction and consultation for Club Programs Staff and Activities:

  • Ensures proactive, on-going communication between Clubs, Area Representatives, National Representatives and The Association. 
  • Provides input to Coordinators of Club Programs in interactions with Club officers, Area Representatives and National Representatives.
  • Provides guidance and support to local A&M Club boards as needed.
  • Provides guidance and support for A&M Club Musters, away games, and Club activities as needed.
  • Provides guidance and support for the creation of new A&M Clubs.
  • Provides guidance and support to ensure Area and National Representatives are appropriately representing their areas.
  • Provides on-site logistical event support as needed. 
  • Ensures Association fundraising and strategic branding messages are incorporated into all Club, Area Representative and Nationals Representative communications.

Provides direction and consultation for Constituent Network Staff and Activities:

  • Ensures proactive, on-going communication between Constituent Networks and The Association.
  • Provides input to Coordinator of Constituent Networks & Young Alumni in interactions with Constituent Networks.
  • Provides guidance and support to Constituent Network boards as needed.
  • Provides guidance and support for the creation of new Constituent Networks.
  • Provides on-site logistical event support as needed.
  • Ensures Association fundraising and strategic branding messages are incorporated into all Constituent Network communications.
  • Serves as ex-officio member of the Aggie Women Network.

Provides direction and consultation for Young Alumni Staff and Activities:

  • Ensures proactive, on-going communication between Young Alumni initiatives and The Association.
  • Provides on-site logistical event support as needed.
  • Ensures Association fundraising and strategic branding messages are incorporated into all Young Alumni communications.

Provides direction and consultation for Travel Programs Staff and Activities:

  • Ensures proactive, on-going communication within the Travel Program and with travelers.
  • Provides input to Manger of Travel on the evaluation and scheduling of travel opportunities.
  • Oversees selection and training of staff travel hosts. 
  • Provides input to Manager of Travel and Events Team in planning Travel Reunion. 
  • Provides on-site logistical event support as needed. 
  • Ensures Association fundraising and strategic branding messages are incorporated into all Travel Programs communications.

Coordinates activities of the Leadership Council, the governing body of The Association of Former Students:

  • Composes routine and detailed correspondence to volunteer leaders.
  • Ensures all Leadership Council members know the expectations of their volunteer role.
  • Ensures all training materials for each volunteer constituency remain current and are appropriately delivered to evolve volunteers into Association ambassadors.
  • Develops and leads the semi-annual Leadership Council Weekend agendas, activities and planning team.
  • Develops and leads the Volunteer Leadership Workshop agenda, activities and planning team.
  • Works with the Senior Vice President and the Marketing and Communications teams to develop appropriate communications to be sent to the Leadership Council at least four times per year outside of meeting registration communications.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Fundraising to raise the Leadership Council’s annual participation rate in the Annual Fund each year.

Leads the Bowl Game Planning Team.


Participates in and provides input on various Association-wide activities:

  • Actively contributes toward efforts to achieve our culture, engagement, and fundraising goals.
  • Provides on-site event support for Board and Leadership Council meetings.
  • Participates on internal event teams and task committees.
  • Participates in Association events, including but not limited to Aggie Muster, Aggie Ring Day, Reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala, Pass It Back Day, All-Aggie Grad Party, and All-Aggie Hullabaloo, as needed.

Serves as an ambassador for The Association:

  • Meets our Team Expectations.
  • Supports The Association’s marketing, communications, and branding initiatives.
  • Fosters relationships with students, former students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of Texas A&M. 
  • Attends external events in support of the Senior Vice President for Engagement on behalf of The Association, as directed.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required: Sound judgment and utmost discretion. Ability to organize concurrent projects and manage time, while working independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively with teammates. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including superior listening and public speaking skills. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with a variety of unique personalities and individuals. Ability to use standard office equipment and software. 

Preferred: Extensive familiarity with Texas A&M and its history, traditions, and values. Prior experience with Wrike and/or Salesforce software applications.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Strong commitment to the mission and vision of The Association of Former Students, with the ability and desire to advocate for the organization and Texas A&M University. High energy level and intrinsic motivation. Texas driver’s license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, including driving long distances pulling a cargo trailer behind a truck. Frequent travel, including overnight stays, weekends, and evenings, in support of Association events.


EXPERIENCE

Required: Five or more years’ experience in administration or alumni programming, and experience in public relations. Proven experience managing and organizing concurrent projects and proven success in delegating responsibility and tasks with accountability. Supervisory experience. 

Preferred: Eight or more years’ administrative or alumni programming experience, with 5 years management experience. Involvement in campus activities as a student at Texas A&M.


EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.
