Mechanical Engineer

U.S. Citizenship is Required. Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required. Candidate must be SAP and SCI program eligible.  

This position is in-person. 

Toyon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a team developing prototypes of aerospace flight bodies and test diagnostic systems. This position requires a strong background in mechanical design and drafting. This position will be involved during the entire design process; from conceptualization, detailed design, release of technical drawing packages, through the development of manufacturing processes and specifications.


 The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • B.S. or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 or more years of experience designing structures encountering challenging vibration, shock, and temperature environments.
  • Experience with the various elements of mechanical design, including selection of structural materials, adhesive and fastener selection; ASME y14.5 and other relevant ASME drafting standards; familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100/MIL Specifications as they apply to aerospace structures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment involving experts in diverse disciplines (e.g. aero-thermal and thermo-structural analyses, RF and IR signature effects of materials and configurations, etc.).
  • Experience with SolidWorks and associated Product Data Management (PDM) tools preferred.

The annual pay range for the Mechanical Engineer position is $105,000 to $200,000.

The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate’s education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
