Your Day to Day: 

  • Read and follow electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for installations, maintenance, renovations, and repairs in commercial buildings.
  • Install fixtures, switches, outlets, breakers, and other electrical components in accordance with project specifications.
  • Perform electrical tasks in compliance with codes, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Use appropriate tools to cut, bend, assemble, secure, anchor, thread, and connect electrical conduit.
  • Establish proper grounding for panels, equipment, and systems.
  • Inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical infrastructure and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with project teams for efficient project completion.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to fellow electricians and apprentices.
  • Maintain and store tools responsibly on job sites.
  • Document work accurately, including materials, time, and reports.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, codes, and best practices.
  • Adapt to additional duties based on project needs.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years proven experience as an electrician in commercial construction settings.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work meticulously to ensure precise installations and repairs.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a passion for working with teams and training apprentices.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and components.
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Great sense of humor, charismatic, and desire to work with teams of seasoned electricians.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Electrical certification from a trade school, vocational training center, or other technical institute.
  • Electrical license is preferred but not required. 
  • Committed to meeting exam hour prerequisites for obtaining an electrical journeyman license. 
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.

Work Environment

You will be working on a construction job site both indoors and outdoors. You may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions common to Midwest climate including extreme heat and cold, wind, rain, and snow. Additionally, you may be working around large equipment and exposed to loud, moving parts. You must be able to tolerate exposure to electrical and other environmental hazards including dirt, dust, debris, or fumes. You must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. Uneven surfaces are common on job sites.


Physical Demands

You must have the ability to perform all physical demands required to successfully carry out essential functions of your role. Upper and lower body strength and a full range of motion of all musculature is imperative to perform your job safely. Physical demands include but are not limited to the following abilities: 

  • Walking and standing for long periods of time. 
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching/squatting, climbing (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and scaffolding).
  • Pushing/pulling generated force up to 100 pounds
  • Gripping, handling, fingering, and reaching (forward and overhead)
  • Carrying and lifting (floor to waist, waist to shoulder, and overhead) tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
