Position Summary

The Logistics Group Leader leads the team of Logistic Associates and ensures they are efficient and effective in the receipt, storage, movement, shipment, and issuance of production materials. The Logistics Group Leader leads the team in the timely completion of projects and other special assignments while being directly involved in material movement and accompanying Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system input.  


Job Duties

  • Leads the Logistic Associates and assists in day-to-day activities relating to receiving, shipping, storing, and material movement.
  • Generates, reviews, provides reports, and coordinates with appropriate personnel to ensure timely processing of inbound and outbound goods.
  • Trains and actively engages in shipping, receiving, and storage of materials and finished goods.
  • Leads physical and administrative logistic functions.
  • Maintains all applicable records for shipping, receiving, and material movement. 
  • Manages inbound and outbound serial number items to ensure compliance with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), state regulations, and Department of Defense (DOD).
  • Ensures timely processing and movement of all inbound freight throughout the material process path from receipt to storage.
  • Assists Logistics Associates when processing the shipment transactions to be sure shipping specifications are being met and documents are being properly prepared and filed.
  • Ensures order and accountability of weapons bunker and material storage area. 
  • Ensures the safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, or other assigned equipment according to proper operator manuals, rules, procedures, etc.
  • Writes, edits, Interprets, and conveys work instructions ensuring team is adhering to business and systematic processes as defined. 
  • Processes purchase orders (PO), Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) goods and services receipts, and assists Buyers and the Finance department with problem shipments.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Educational Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.


Experience Requirements

Five years of logistics experience is required.


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to drive forklifts with the ability to maneuver equipment in close/tight quarters.
  • Practical understanding of workplace 5s principals. 
  • Ability to use the ERP system, software (SIR, DLA-VSM), and forms required to process government shipments.
  • Knowledge of Hazmat and HazCom regulations governing material movement, storage, and transportation.
  • Ability to cross-train subordinates.
  • Strong knowledge of receiving and shipping procedures.


Tools

ERP system, Microsoft Excel and Word experience with an emphasis on spreadsheet development. Various forklifts and pallet jacks.


Licenses/Certifications

HazMat certification preferred. 


Working Conditions

Exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, and dangerous chemicals while on the plant floor. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
