Prep Cook 

American Spoon has an immediate opening for a Prep Cook in our Preserving Kitchen in Petoskey. 

This is a year-round position, 4/10 schedule, Monday-Thursday, 3-day weekends, NO nights, No weekends, No holidays!   PTO available, paid holidays and more.... 

We are seeking an individual with great communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence and teamwork.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepping ingredients for cooks to complete daily production schedule. 
  • Assist with assorted kitchen duties as directed by Supervisor/Manager.
  • Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
  • Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
  • Comply with department policies and procedures.  
  • Help maintain cleanliness of production kitchen throughout shift and end of day. 
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be able to work with fast-paced, continuous movements for up to four hours.
  • Can lift equipment and ingredients including shoulder height up to 50 lbs. in weight.
  • Be proficient in basic math and food measurment metrics. 
  • Be able to follow food safety and sanitation protocol, with knowledge of food preparation.
  • Be able to maintain focus and follow instructions.
  • Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks. 
  • Have reliable transportation to get to and from work.
  • Demonstrate a consistent positive attitude. 

Salary Description
$18-20 hourly- commensurate with experience
