Math Academy is a safe space for middle and high school-aged students to build confidence in foundational math skills to feel better prepared in the classroom. We are looking for a classroom facilitator who is willing to meet students where they are while also providing opportunities for growth with challenging math practice and teamwork. As an Academy, Instructors will work together to ensure all student needs are met, that curriculum is implemented appropriately, and to provide a productive and engaging learning environment. 

Specific Duties

• Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and the Curriculum & Instructional Specialist for developing aligned curriculum
• Responsible for implementing pre- and post-diagnostics, differentiated instructional methods, and activities that reflect the needs and interests of all students
• Engage youth in both independent and team challenges for skill development
• Manage work completion and encourage consistent attendance
• Build relationships with students for supporting academic and social-emotional growth throughout the Academy
• Exercise flexibility and creativity to address specific needs of students and the class
• Inspire, motivate, and encourage students to perform their best regardless of ability level
• Perform other duties as required

• A strong belief in the ability of all students – regardless of background – to excel academically
• Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and adapt to student need
• Organized, flexible, and patient within a fast-paced environment
• Understanding of group dynamics and the developmental characteristics of middle school youth

• Bachelor’s degree; Secondary Math teaching certification or relevant field (degree/certification may be in progress)
• Experience working in a diverse academic setting preferred
• Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and adapt to student and programming needs
• Organized, flexible, and patient within a fast-paced environment
• Understanding of group dynamics and developmental characteristics of school-aged youth
• Must have own reliable transportation
• Must commit to all Saturday sessions and one training session
• Fall and Spring sessions to run for 6 Saturdays
• Schedule availability required to meet programming, student, and staff needs such as training date(s), weekly planning meetings, Specialist check-ins, etc.
