Job Summary 

  • The Occupational Therapist at Heartspring Residential School administers assessments, plans and implements programs, and conducts occupational therapy treatment through direct and/or consultative services.


Primary Functions

  • Complete standardized and/or informal testing and functional assessments to assess fine motor skill and measure progress.
  • Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to residential and/or day-only students as specified in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Participation in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for assigned students. 
  • Provide requested training to parents/family/caregivers and other professionals and direct care staff. 
  • Write programs and procedures as determined by the team to support IEP goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and direct care staff members to ensure consistent programming across environments. 
  • Track quality and quantity of OT data and compile data for all IEP objectives.
  • Document direct and indirect services provided for each student.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the COTA or occupational therapy assistant related to the delivery of occupational therapy services and the facilitation of professional growth and competence. 
  • Prompt and regular attendance is required.

Secondary Functions

  • Distribute, modify, maintain, and repair therapy equipment as needed.
  • Complete routine checks with classroom and group home staff while completing OT programs, procedures, and data collection.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements

    

Educational, Training, and Licensure Requirements

  • Successful completion of an occupational therapy program from an accredited university. 
  • Current Kansas Occupational Therapy License in good standing. 
  • Must successfully complete all required orientation and training conducted by Heartspring staff.
