CMS is currently seeking a Scheduler responsible for the planning and scheduling of construction activities for projects of varying scale. This role involves creating detailed and logically sequenced project schedules across all project phases — preconstruction, execution, and closeout — by analyzing contract and proposal data. The Scheduler plays a key role in coordinating project logistics and identifying opportunities to improve schedule efficiency. The position works closely with the Project Management Team to monitor and report on schedule performance.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
- Collaborate with construction teams to develop and deliver detailed project schedules
- Use Primavera software to build and manage construction schedules, including identification of the critical path
- Enter and update project schedules in Primavera
- Review third-party schedules and provide documented feedback
- Analyze cost, labor, and resource data within project schedules
- Review change orders to assess schedule impact and assist with time impact analysis
- Track material procurement tasks and assess delivery impacts on project timelines
- Manage and communicate schedule updates to project teams
- Participate in project review meetings, presenting schedule progress and reports
- Promptly report any schedule delays or risks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or
- Associate’s degree in a related field and 1–5 years of scheduling experience on active construction projects; or
- High school diploma with 7+ years of scheduling experience supporting active construction projects
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with scheduling processes and construction project deliverables
- Ability to analyze and manage detailed schedules with multiple tasks and phases
- Experience supporting both government and commercial construction projects
- Exposure to or proficiency in Primavera, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-motivated with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with teams and take ownership of scheduling responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Reports to the Senior Scheduling Manager
Working Conditions
- Light physical activity, including lifting or moving lightweight material
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and reach
- Travel may be required for site visits or project-related duties
- Must be able to walk construction sites
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle insurance requirements
