Project Engineer

Project Engineers are involved in all aspects of project execution, including financial, scheduling, and technical management in accordance with contract requirements, project plans, and company policies. Responsibilities include cost estimating, schedule development, project planning, design support, product data research and submittals, coordination with field teams, participation in meetings, and supporting project closeout.


Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

  • Follow safety procedures during all phases of project support
  • Collaborate with the Pre-Construction Team to successfully launch projects
  • Review specifications and maintain the submittal register in coordination with the Project Manager and/or Quality Control Manager
  • Conduct entry-level submittal reviews and prepare documentation for Quality Control Manager review
  • Work with the Quality Control Manager and Project Coordinator to manage submittals from vendors, designers, or clients
  • Assist in preparing and tracking Requests for Information
  • Support Project Manager and Superintendent in schedule development and management
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Track project milestones to ensure timely completion within budget
  • Assist with managing financial tracking and reporting to support project performance
  • Help draft subcontracts and purchase orders, and follow up with vendors/subcontractors regarding deliverables
  • Support on-site tasks and travel to job sites as required
  • Assist with site access logistics, including coordinating with personnel and vendors for base access and escorted entry
  • Participate in meetings and prepare agendas and minutes as needed
  • Support monthly reporting and invoice documentation
  • Help with compiling closeout documentation and final client-required forms
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar field, with 1–2 years of related experience; or
  • Associate’s degree with 3–4 years of related experience; or
  • High school diploma with at least 6 years of relevant experience 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong ability to collaborate as part of a team to meet project goals
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to represent the company professionally in all forms of interaction
  • General knowledge of construction practices, scheduling, contracts, documentation, and budgeting
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and completing tasks accurately
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing responsibilities independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Primavera P6

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Project Manager

Working Conditions

  • Light physical effort; must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and walk project sites
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and reach
  • Travel to project sites up to 25% of the time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, be insurable under company policy, and able to travel as needed
  • Must meet access requirements for government installations and secured areas
  • Maintain required training for both office and field duties
