Description

  

Project Engineers will be involved in all aspects of the execution of projects.  This includes financial, scheduling and technical management in accordance with contract requirements, project plans and established corporate policies. Execution of work will include cost estimating, schedule development and forecasting, project planning, design, product data research/submittals, preparation/participation in meetings, coordination with Quality Control Managers, Site Safety Health Officers, and Site Superintendents and Project Coordinators, field execution and project closeout.


Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures
  • Work with Pre-Construction Team in any aspect required to successfully “Kick-Off” projects.
  • Review specifications to edit, and maintain the submittal register to ensure submittal requirements are followed and the submittals required are appropriate for the project; work with the Project Manager and / or Quality Control Manager to clarify with the client applicable project submittals.
  • Perform entry level submittal review and prepare for Quality Control Manager Review. 
  • Work with Quality Control Manager and Project Coordinator to compile and track all project submittal documents (Vendor / Designer of Record and / or Client).
  • Work directly with Project Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, Project Manager and Project Coordinator to assist in creating and tracking of Requests for Information.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Project Superintendent in the development and management of the project schedule.
  • Act as secondary point of contact with all clients and subcontractors / vendors. 
  • Track project metrics to ensure project is completed on schedule, within budget and within established quality standards.
  • Assist in managing the financial aspects of projects profitably while protecting the company’s interest and maintaining good a relationship with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.  
  • Assist Project Manager with procurement (purchase orders / subcontract agreements) to vendors within approved guidelines. This would include assisting with drafting subcontract(s) and purchase orders for Project Management review and following up with material / equipment suppliers and subcontractors on project deliverables.
  • Support on site activities. Work on site performing various tasks to assist the Project Superintendent, Quality Control Manager and Site Safety and Health Officer. This would include travel to various jobsites as required. 
  • Assist with site access. This includes working with CMS personnel as well as subcontractors / vendors requiring access to obtain Base badging, access to restricted areas and coordinating escorts, as needed.
  •  Participate in project meetings. Prepare agendas and meeting minutes as required. 
  • Assist in updating monthly schedule / invoice documents for client approval and invoicing. Perform entry level tasks such as scheduling meetings, executing general project related paperwork and reporting, etc.
  • Assist with project closeout activities. This includes compiling project turnover information completion of the project and generation of client required forms for review and approval. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management/Engineering and 1-2 years related experience; or 
  • An Associate’s degree in Construction Management/Engineering and a minimum of 3 -4 years of related experience; or
  • A High School diploma and a minimum of 6 years of related experience

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively work as part of a cohesive team working together to achieve project goals
  • Ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential
  • Ability to professionally represent the company, verbally, in writing, and in person, to clients, associates and all others and to expand relationships and grow the business
  • General knowledge of construction including scheduling procedures, contracts, plan and specification reading, financial planning and tracking, and construction processes are required
  • Ability to accurately organize, prioritize, plan, and complete all job responsibilities
  • Ability to assume responsibility, achieve assigned goals and work effectively with others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Primavera P6
  • Performs assignments with minimal supervision; works independently

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Works under direction of the Project Managers.

Working Conditions

  • Light physical effort with ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds and walk a project site.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach
  • Travel to Project site required up to 25% of the time. 
  • Must have valid driver’s license, be insurable on the company insurance and able to travel as required
  • Maintain training requirements for both office and field position
  • Ability to gain access as required to Government installations including secured areas.
