Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) prepares students in grades Kindergarten through 12 to meet the challenges of living creatively and productively in an increasingly technologically sophisticated and interconnected world. ECCS will provide students with an academically rigorous yet flexible online learning program that tailors learning experiences to each child through curriculum choices and virtual and in-person tutoring and counseling. ECCS targets underserved and at-risk students who have not always found success in traditional schools. ECCS places students on a pathway to post-secondary success.

RESPONXIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver English language development (ELD) instruction to English Learners (ELs).
  • Collaborate with content area teachers consistently.
  • Assess students’ needs and modify instruction accordingly.
  • Screen Home Language Surveys 
  • Complete training for and administer specialized ESL assessments (ex. WIDA).
  • Form and maintain relationships with students’ families, including parent interviews, phone calls, and conferences.
  • Create a virtual classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Maintain EL student files and monitor former ELs. 
  • Effectively incorporates technology to facilitate instruction. 
  • Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students and submit progress reports quarterly. 
  • Attend IEP or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law.
  • Able to increase students' English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to develop and use a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practice
  • Ability to evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance
  • Effective communication skills and ability to maintain strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, strong virtual classroom culture ?
  • Strong technology skills and an ability to learn new programs

Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required
  • Valid Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in the subject area
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an urban setting with high percentages of ELD and SPED students
  • A passion for education and a belief that your zip code does not dictate your destiny
  • Ability to reliably commute to building 
  • Current FBI fingerprints, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse background checks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working.
  • Constant hand, finger, and arm use, and excellent eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to hear clearly and speak intelligibly.
  • To occasionally function in activities involving walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing stairs.
  • To occasionally stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to see and perform visual activities such as closing paperwork, using a computer monitor, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to come onsite for all required days - 30 days per school year
