Divine Mercy University is seeking a skilled Junior Accountant to perform a variety of accounting, student accounts and financial reporting tasks. The Junior Accountant’s responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and managing the Student Accounts office. Familiarity with Quickbooks or similar accounting software to process business transactions, such as accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, and receipts is a plus.
Works under the supervision of a Director of Accounting to achieve the following:
Accounts receivable management and reporting.
Accounts Payable posting – for both vendors and contractors.
General Ledger account management and reconciliation.
Assist with Month End and Year-End Closing.
Supporting the Director of Accounting with the preparation of the schedules for the Fiscal Year-End Audit.
Supporting the Business Office with accounting-related functions as needed.
(B) Student Accounts Management:
Works under the supervision of the Director of Accounting to achieve the following:
Organizing, managing, and overseeing all aspects of Student Accounts life cycle - billing, student support, management and reconciliation of the Financial Aid packages.
Handles telephone and email correspondence from students in a timely manner. Resolves student-related inquiries.
Interfaces with offices of Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Success Offices in executing school policies and procedures as outlined in the Academic catalog.
Tuition Receivable and Collections: Troubleshoot outstanding student balances to ensure the visibility of student open balances. Assists with preparing weekly reports of student balances.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting or finance.
Minimum of two years working experience in a fast-paced business office. Prior public accounting/ consulting experience is a plus.
Experience with student information systems required; knowledge of Quickbooks a plus.
Superior customer service is essential, including written and oral communication.
Keen attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Strong knowledge of Excel and other related software
