Description

The Psychology Associate performs intellectual assessments and behavior assessments to determine eligibility for people seeking services. Assesses and provides individual behavioral support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participates as a member of the planning team for people receiving supports. Provides behavioral treatment interventions as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Psychology Associate

  • Continuously demonstrates advocacy for the agency policy, goals, values, mission statement and those we serve.
  • Supports each person by participating in the Person-Centered Planning process by suggesting appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Consults with each person and their support teams on issues related to positive behavioral supports, functional assessments, dual diagnosis, anger management, and psychological testing and analysis.
  • Develops and writes support plans as needed.
  • Must be familiar with pertinent regulatory standards, agency policies and practices within DD field, and will effectively communicate these standards to all necessary parties.
  • Demonstrates effective listening skills and builds positive relationships with all people receiving support.
  • Works with Case Managers to monitor ongoing Behavior Support Plans and complete annual revisions and/or updates.
  • Meets with the person receiving support and their caregivers/families to assist in their development of coping skills and anger management skills.
  • Maintains and completes service documentation such as psychosocial assessments, case notes, case reviews, court reports, letters, etc., according to prescribed standards.
  • Conducts case presentations and consultations with other agencies regarding programs and services offered.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, treatment planning meetings, case conferences, and clinical seminars providing information relating to program administration and development.
  • Works with the Director of Training to assess potential training needs.
  • Meets eligibility requirements for training in behavior analysis and experience in developing behavior-tiered plans.
  • Assists the Finance Department with quarterly billing for Behavior Supports Services.
  • Will become certified as a MANDT trainer and participate in MANDT training for agency staff.
  • Will supervise and support any Behavior Technicians who join the agency.
  • Oversees the ‘Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives’ program and the supervision of staff assigned to the program.

Necessary Computer Skills for a Psychology Associate

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Payroll Database, Internet, etc.
  • Experience with Therap and iCareManager is a plus.

Compensation for a Psychology Associate $58,000-$65,000


Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Master's degree in Psychology required
  • Licensed as a Psychological Associate by Maryland’s Board of Psychology, preferred.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of mental and physical characteristics of applicable population, psychotherapy, human behavior, and related issues.
  • Ability to administer, score, and interpret a variety of psychological tests.
  • Ability to handle case load with varying levels of disability and need.
  • Reliable transportation for frequent travel between work sites.
