Salary & Benefits: $15.25/hr, with an additional $3.00/hr premium as a Lead, 20% store discount, accrued Paid Time Off, eligible for company benefits after 90 days 

Hours: 3-5 shifts, in addition to Cashier shifts

Summary: The Shift Leads support and manage daily tasks Mariposa’s Front End and other departments, support and encourage consistent implementation of Mariposa’s customer service standards, support the Front End Manager in identifying and implementing processes, policies and standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

FRONT END & FLOOR SUPPORT

  • Support cashiers, floor staff and working members in assorted department tasks
  • Support cashiers in upholding proper cash handling practices.
  • Act in compliance with store policies both staff wide and department specific
  • Uphold store policies for loss prevention, panhandling, and safe & efficient facility maintenance.
  • Answer phone to field customer, member, vendor and client inquiries; redirects whenever necessary.
  • Maintain a friendly, approachable and optimistic demeanor throughout shift.
  • Complete Daily Logs to record attendance and other issues. Communicate with appropriate staff for unresolved issues.
  • Handle staff or customer issues with sensitivity and respect. Ensures appropriate channel of follow-up communication.
  • De-escalate or resolve conflicts to satisfy customers and staff, and maintain a welcoming shopping atmosphere.
  • Take a macro view of the floor to notice areas in need of attention, untidy conditions, items stocked incorrectly etc.
  • Actively collaborate with other department staff to help stock, clean, guide customers, etc.
  • Must be super punctual: opens and/or closes the store as needed according to established policies and procedures.

FRONT END MANAGER SUPPORT

  • Work with FEM to identify needs and develop solutions, systems and documents
  • Support FEM in implementing new procedures, systems, and expectations.
  • Support FEM in setting the schedule and finding shift coverage as needed.
  • Communicate openly with FEM regarding observations, ideas, and concerns using appropriate communication methods.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Mariposa FE policies and practices, and of the store & its products is a MUST.
  • Confidence in speaking with customers, resolving complaints, and answering questions about the store.
  • Exercise good judgement and act responsibly with money and store property.
  • Clear and professional verbal, written, phone, and email communications.
  • Some experience with staff or facility supervision is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50-60 lbs as needed.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use arms repeatedly for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to speak for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb stairs multiple times per shift
  • Fine motor skills needed for cash handling, and in order to operate P.O.S, devices and computers
  • Vision skills with adjustable focus needed to operate register, handle cash, and provide customer service.
  • Ability to wear a mask for extended periods of time.
