Job Purpose

The Behavior Analyst BCBA will collaborate with all members of a student’s IEP team to provide educational and behavioral programming based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Responsibilities will include assessing students’ repertoires, developing and/or modifying curriculum to meet individual needs, monitor skill acquisition, developing and overseeing the implementation of behavior support plans, developing data collection systems, and training and supervising direct teaching staff in Applied Behavior Analysis. The Behavior Analyst collaborates with school staff in their efforts to achieve the best possible outcomes for the students served and to create a culture of excellence at VIA. 

Duties and Responsibilities

· Responsible for overseeing the programs of the children receiving services from VIA, including program development, implementation of programs, advancement of programs, and data collection;

· Maintain confidentiality with staff, parents, public school personnel, and/or agencies;

· Work with the LYH Behavior Technicians to determine strategies to be implemented that best suits the needs of the student including visual strategies, sensory needs, communication needs, social needs, behavioral issues, and reinforcement;

· Availability to assess student and his/her abilities who are currently at the center and applicants who wish to be admitted;

· Work directly with the educational director and/or other Behavior Analysts to determine needed curriculum and implementation of that curriculum;

· Oversee LYH Behavior Technicians and provide training, as well as conduct evaluations of therapists, including video tape reviews;

· Give direction to LYH Behavior Technicians to ensure that the needs of the student are being addressed appropriately;

· Conduct functional behavior assessments and write behavior plans as needed;

· Participate in team meetings with parents and/or school divisions;

· Conduct observations and reports with recommendations for clients;

· Supervise the development of IEP goals and progress reports. Ensure that all goals are being targeted;

· Supervise program development in conjunction with the clinical director;

· Other responsibilities may include teacher trainings, presentations, and research


Position Type 

This is a full-time position. This position involves working with students who exhibit challenging and/or aggressive behavior and participation in community outings.

Requirements

  

Qualifications include:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited school or university
  • 3+ years of experience in the field of autism
  • Experience as an ABA provider
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst 
  • Valid Virginia medical license in Behavior Analysis
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in applied behavior analysis and evidence-based strategies for      learners with autism and other developmental disabilities
  • Flexibility to travel/consult
