About the Role

CloudBees is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to develop our next-generation solutions!

This is an excellent opportunity to join CloudBees product development team, working with some of the best and brightest engineers and technical product managers while also developing your skills and furthering your career within an innovative and progressive technology company.


In this role as a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's strategy and driving technological advancements. You will be part of the SAAS Platform engineering team comprising front-end, back-end, and full-stack software engineers doing agile development. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, to design and implement new features for our CloudBees SAAS Platform. You are a recognized leader with the ability to influence industry standards and practices.


What You'll Do

  • Architect, automate, and optimize pipelines. 
  • Ensure efficient and reliable automation of build, test, and deployment processes for various applications and environments.
  • Build cloud-native applications and services on popular cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP. 
  • Utilize microservices architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design software solutions, and write clean, efficient, and maintainable code. 
  • Contribute to both front-end and back-end development to create well-rounded applications.
  • Implement best practices for code quality, automated testing, and code reviews to ensure software reliability and performance. 
  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and perform code reviews to maintain high standards.
  • Work on new feature development and product enhancements based on customer feedback and industry trends. 
  • Continuously innovate and propose improvements to existing software solutions.
  • Analyze and address complex technical challenges and issues that arise during the software development lifecycle. 
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems efficiently.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and best practice guidelines. 
  • Share knowledge and contribute to internal and external technical communities.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, stand-up meetings, and retrospectives. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure alignment and efficient project execution.
  • Share your expertise and mentor engineers, helping them grow and develop their skills. 
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies, tools and cloud computing. 
  • Proactively learn and adapt to new technologies to drive innovation.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their needs, gather feedback, and provide technical support and guidance as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science is highly preferred.
  • 12+ years of distinguished software engineering experience with a significant focus on architecting the SaaS products.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in working on SaaS products
  • Expertise in DevOps methodologies, and containerization technologies.
  • Expertise  in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience with our tech stack or equivalent: GoLang (preferred)/Java/Python is a must. Kubernetes, Docker, Node (TypeScript), React / NextJS (this is a very wide range of skills 
  • 5+ years of experience using Cassandra DB
  • 3+ years of experience using gRPC, protobufs is a big plus
  • Knowledge of SOC controls, general IT security, control frameworks, and familiarity with ISO 27000, NIST, SOX, CIS, PCI DSS, and other standards
  • Experience with UI & API test automation tools, particularly in Java stack (e.g. JMeter, Gatling, Selenium, Playwright, API testing)
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and advanced CI/CD practices.
  • Proven track record of influencing technical directions at both organizational and industry levels.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide technical teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with C-level executives.
