We influence the public policies that support economic growth and optimize funding and resources to invest in regional solutions to build a skilled and thriving workforce.


Position Summary

This position will be responsible for promoting workforce development programming and resources offered by Philadelphia Works to various government organizations and staff of elected and appointed officials. This position will support outreach to local elected officials with operational and programmatic initiatives. This position will require a good deal of local travel.


Essential Functions

  1. Educate the staff of elected and appointed officials on all programs and resources available to their constituents that Philadelphia Works offers.
  2. Proactively seek out, identify, and communicate to the VP of Government any workforce-related initiatives sponsored by elected officials.
  3. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with government organizations in the local area.
  4. Support the Community Outreach Team with events sponsored by government organizations and staff of elected and appointed officials.
  5. Attend regularly scheduled meetings with Philadelphia Works Operations staff to ensure programmatic activities are being promoted to key government officials.
  6. Collaborate with the Operation unit to track the status of individuals referred by elected officials who engage in workforce services.
  7. Educate/Inform Philadelphia Works Staff of concerns/issues, data/trends that elected officials are dealing with in their district.
  8. Inform the Operation unit on community data trends to assess the existing service effectiveness, increased or additional service needs, identify other community resources etc.
  9. May attend state legislative or city council sessions virtually or in-person to stay current on workforce development legislation or activities.
  10. Partner with the Communication and Outreach Department for collateral to disseminate and promote events.
  11. Must be available to work some evenings and weekends, often with short notice.
  12. May be assigned to visit organizations and assist on various projects that promote workforce-related services.
  13. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education/Professional Experience

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Policy, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or related field with at least 5 years of experience in Human Services and at least 5 years of management experience. Or any combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable.

  •  Ability to effectively relate to people of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, government agencies, public officials, and all levels of management and staff
  •  Must have the ability to travel throughout the city and surrounding area
