Sacred Heart School in Sedalia, Missouri, would like to add interested and qualified persons to our substitute teacher call list.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for and supervise students in assigned class
- Communicate the lesson plan left by the teacher to the student
- Manage classroom and keep students on task
- Utilizes technology to access lesson plans and take attendance
- Demonstrates support for the mission of Sacred Heart School by attitude, words, actions, and integrity
- Assists in maintaining discipline by enforcing the expectations in the Student Handbook
Qualification:
- A minimum of 36 semester hours of credit occurred as a part of Senate Bill 681, signed by Governor Parsons and became effective as of June 2022.
- State teaching licensure/certificate is preferred but not a hiring prerequisite
- Understands the school education culture and can interact professionally with students, faculty, and parents
- Ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations
- Preferred: Familiarity with Google Suite (Gmail, docs, sheets, etc)
Physical Demands and Other Requirements:
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
- Required to monitor students in a variety of locations, including those with noise and activity
- Required to maintain composure and to communicate appropriately in words and actions.
A successful candidate who can minister to students regardless of subject area or a teacher who, consistent with the Mission of Sacred Heart School, promotes and teaches the Catholic faith as reasonably determined by the principal.
Compensation for a substitute teacher is the current minimum wage requirement.
Regular diocesan Catholic school substitute teachers must take the safe environment training provided and required by the diocese. Regular substitute teachers are anyone substituting for the second time or more within any diocesan Catholic school.
