Description

Role Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Memory Commodity Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of memory commodities, ensuring a stable and cost-effective supply chain. This role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of Memory Technology, both chips and modules, across various brands, and has established a robust global network of suppliers with a particular focus on Asia.

Essential Functions

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Along with the Regional Purchasing Manager - Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for memory commodities, considering market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize market intelligence to identify, evaluate, and negotiate to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contractual agreements for the company.

Market Analysis and Intelligence:

  • Continuously monitor and analyze the memory market.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and market dynamics related to memory commodities to provide strategic insights and recommendations.

Customer Insights:

  • Understand the needs and requirements of customers who use memory products.
  • Work with Sourcing Senior Management to align our procurement strategies with customer demands and market opportunities.

Market Reporting:

  • Develop comprehensive market reports which bring value to both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Reports should reflect current market conditions, pricing, forecasts, and strategic insights.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and guidance to team members on various aspects of memory products and the market. 
  • Foster a learning environment which keeps team members up to date on market trends and technical knowledge.

Core Competencies 

  • In-depth knowledge of memory chips and modules across all major brands.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of managing strategic supplier relationships, particularly in Asia.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Adept at negotiation and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in memory commodity purchasing. 
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time during the shift.  
  • Finger, wrist and hand dexterity with repetitive motion.
