Description

  

Maintenance Mechanic - ALL SHIFTS 

1. Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action.  Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.

2. Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences.

3. Start machines and turn hand wheels or valves to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms.

4. Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.

5. Review the production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, change over equipment to new sizes or perform scheduled maintenance.

6. Tests equipment to check operation.  Clears jams and sets aside products for inspection and rework.  Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime.

7. Examines, tests, and measures products from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms.  Checks product for visual defects.

8. Makes preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor, and takes appropriate action.

9. Analyze and record the cause of production delays on daily production reports.

10. Record operational data such as pressure readings, lengths of strokes, feed rates, and speeds.

11. Select the proper coolants and lubricants and start their flow.

12. Notifies the maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.

13. Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.

14. Responsible for maintenance activities aligned with food safety management system regulations.

Requirements

  

Required Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or GED preferred

2. Driver’s license required

3. CDL class A 


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. Satisfactory work record, as determined by the plant training committee.

2. Satisfactory completion of a three-year formal training program.

3. Ability to use hand tools and trades-type tools.

4. High mental and visual effort required.

5. The job involves standing most of the shift.

6. Willingness to work rotating shifts on a continuous, seven-day cycle.
