Summary  

The Community Assistant will deliver outstanding customer service to current and prospective residents during every shift while promoting a welcoming community that contributes to a quality living experience and achieving the property’s occupancy goals. The Community Assistant will achieve this through marketing, events, outreach, resident interactions, and administrative tasks.


What You’ll Do:  

  • Provide a positive living experience for all residents through superior customer service. 
  • Assist with resident/guarantor complaints, questions, concerns, and/or requests promptly. This may include after-hour bedroom lockout 
  • Assist with completing outreach activities when assigned. 
  • Assist every current and prospective resident with the completion of the leasing process. This will include property tours and appointments. 
  • Receive resident packages and enter them into property software. (Some packages may be 25+ pounds). 
  • Answer phone calls from current/prospective residents, guarantors, and/or other properties. 
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the property, office areas, and the provided model apartment. 
  • Adhere to Fair Housing Laws and Standards

  • Other duties as assigned 


Who You Are:  

  • High School Diploma or GED is required 
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university with minimum of 6 credit hours.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 1 year at the enrolled accredited college or university.
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average. GPA will be verified each semester. Failure to maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA may result in probation, suspension, or release from the Community Assistant position.
  • Ability to live onsite to perform necessary after-hours lock outs and/or respond to minor afterhours resident calls when needed if preferred.
  • Ability to write reports and general business correspondence. 
  • Strong customer service experience is required. 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office proficiently.
  • Knowledge of sales processes are strongly recommended 
  • Ability to communicate with people effectively and professionally, verbally and written, at various levels within the organization. 


Work Environment and Physical Demands:  

  • Availability to work a minimum of 16 hours per week.
  • Ability to work during the Summer Turnover Period, performing tasks delegated by property management.
  • Ability to work as needed during designated school breaks including but not limited to Spring, Fall and Winter Break.
  • Participation in all marketing events that may occur both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions 
  • Ability to walk short and long distances to perform inspections and other required tasks 
  • Effectively use a computer and keyboard, which will require close vision and extended time looking at a computer screen 
  • Ability to lift 25+ pound objects occasionally, while also having to bend down to pick up packages. 


Community Assistant Evaluation:  

All Community Assistants will be subject to a Community Assistant Evaluation at the end of each semester. The evaluation will measure areas pertaining to academic requirements, an assessment of job performance and ability to fulfill job description requirements/essential functions, and a recommendation to continue employment for another semester. This evaluation will not result in a change in compensation. Previous employment does not represent a commitment to maintain employment.
